DS Architects have a strong focus on industrial architecture, particularly within the process industry (food and beverage). Our experience in this sector is extensive and diverse, and includes feasibility studies, master planning, planning approvals, design and documentation and undertaking the role of Superintendent during construction.

We have worked on most building types, including milk dryers, process rooms, filling rooms, cool rooms, intake bays, laboratories, energy centres, trade waste treatment plants and warehousing.  Buildings are designed to comply with the requirements of relevant food safety regulatory bodies (eg. Dairy Food Safety Victoria) , providing easily cleanable and maintainable ledge free environments with controlled HEPA filtered mechanical systems utilising pressure gradients for environmental control.  We develop with the client red-line change facilities to control risks associated with product contamination.

As architects we have worked collaboratively on major projects – working with the client, the consultant team, process engineers, contractors and equipment suppliers to design the building and civils and integrate/co-ordinate the project works. We retain a specialist core of staff who are conversant with hygiene engineering codes, production planning, design co-ordination skill and are committed to achieve the best project outcome.

Most projects that we have undertaken are on existing production sites where the principals operation is 24/7 and we are acutely aware of interface and operational requirements. We have maintained an excellent record in project delivery where we deliver the works within the committed set budget and to the project time frame
