DS Architects’ specialist industrial design expertise has seen our team engaged, over the last decade, across multiple Qanstruct projects. Recently, we undertook the design development and documentation of two warehouse sites at Cloudline Court, Ravenhall and Distribution Drive, Truganina. Both large-scale sites are located within industrial precincts, and our team documented dual-unit storage warehouses on each site.
The warehouses needed to be standardised yet flexible enough to appeal to the market at Cloudline Court and a prospective purchaser at Distribution Drive. Each warehouse facilitates industrial equipment use by providing battery bays, dock levellers, truck access, security functions, offices and staff amenities. Ensuring the cost-efficiency of these builds within a seamless program was a priority for Qanstruct.
With an appreciation for the high-pressure building environment that Qanstruct are operating in, where time is money, the DS team minimised risk by providing highly-considered, accurate and detailed documentation that avoided unnecessary delays.
Our expertise across the industrial sector proved essential to meet compressed timeframes. Qanstruct needed to maintain their in-house timelines, despite subcontracting to us. However, through close collaboration and by developing open communication with the Qanstruct team, we ensured the timely finalisation of the significant 50+ drawing sets.
These projects are future-proofed with extra load bearing capacity to accommodate a future solar array. Additionally, we implemented flexible mechanisms, such as removable internal warehouse walls that enable multiple tenants, and open-plan offices, adaptable to staff needs.
From the outset, we reframed our processes to adapt to Qanstruct’s in order to work as a genuine extension of their team. This ensured all project delivery phases were considered during the decision-making processes at the documentation stage. Our knowledge across the industrial sector, and ability to tailor services most effectively to suit both clients and builder-clients on large-scale projects, propelled the seamless development of both sites and has contributed to our long-standing relationship with Qanstruct.
