At DS Architects we have worked with Victoria University for over 15 years. In recent years, we have been engaged to implement upgrades to learning spaces that support their award-winning block model of study. Instead of learning multiple subjects in parallel, this intensive and immersive approach sees students complete one subject at a time in interactive, workshop-style classes where they have the opportunity get to know their teacher and classmates.

Efficiency of cost and program has been the driving factor for this work. In the early stages, we collaborated closely with University stakeholders to understand their pedagogical approach. We then focussed on developing a standard framework that could be applied to each classroom, specialist space and associated circulation and break out spaces.

Break out spaces feature durable built in furniture and booths, providing a variety of spaces for collaborating on project work in between formal class times.
